Methodist Welfare Services’ Golf Fund-raiser: Celebrating 25 years of ‘fellowship on the greens’

“Fellowship on the Greens” (FOTG) was first initiated by the late (then-former) Minister of State, Dr Tay Eng Soon and the late Mr Edwin Chan in 1989, for the purpose of bringing Methodists from different churches to socialise and strengthen bonds in the Methodist family over a game of golf. 92-year-old Cecil Wong is one of our most stalwart supporters and has played in almost every MWS golf fellowship since it first began.

A time to remember, forget?

…some people only remember the mistakes, setbacks and disappointments of life. They gloss over any upside that life has to offer and choose instead to focus on and remember the bad days.   In her song “Big Yellow Taxi”, Joni Mitchell sings: “Don’t it always seem to go, that you don’t know what you’ve […]

God, the Master restorer and re-creator

“But the pot he was shaping from the clay was marred in his hands; so the potter formed it into another pot, shaping it as seemed best to him.” Jeremiah Even when we are broken, defeated, oppressed, or unstable, God can restore and bring about “beauty” from ashes, a “rock” out of sand and build […]

The Burning Bush

STANDING UNSHOD, traumatised before the manifest presence of God, Moses gasped to hear the Divine assignment. Under Bedouin skies at nightfall, contemplating the majesty of distant stars that swept across every inglenook of space in the cloudless desert firmament, he had learnt the secrets of Creation: of Adam’s world and of his fall from grace, […]
