I am a convert to the Catholic faith, and soon after my baptism I felt called to leave my career in finance to pursue social work as a vocation. As I have grown in both faith and practice, I have encountered genuine tensions, particularly regarding abortion and LGBTQ-related issues.
I’d like to seek some pastoral wisdom regarding a friend’s fiancé. He is hesitant about baptism because he feels some baptism vows sound overly works-based and focused on human promises rather than faith in Christ alone.
I have been a Christian for years but I still see a fortune teller out of curiosity and just for fun. I find that what I’m told makes some sense to me. Some friends tell me not to, but I don’t see what the big deal is.
