The Jesus Prayer
Lent is an important season in the liturgical year because it invites Christians to observe and commemorate the passion, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. It draws us away from our busy schedules and urges us to pause and reflect on our relationship with our Lord and Saviour in whom alone we find the meaning […]

Lent and missions
What is Lent and what is its significance? Beginning on Ash Wednesday in the tradition of the Christian Liturgical Calendar, Lent is a season of penitential reflection, preparing one for Good Friday, before the celebrations of Easter. By observing the 40 days of Lent, Christians replicate Jesus Christ’s sacrifice and withdrawal into the desert for […]

Lenten Reflections
We asked some Methodists for their thoughts and responses about the season of Lent. What are yours? What is the one thing I will remember Jesus for during this Season of Lent? What is the one thing that I will seek to repent from? What is my one response to Jesus’ sacrifice […]

On saving the family
One of the most worrying developments that we witness in the West and also in some affluent countries in Asia is the evolution of marriage and the family. Confessions of a LNY Scrooge

God is Our Refuge – Psalm 46
The psalm is a prophecy of God’s response to turmoil that will occur. Mountains may shake with fury. Nations rage, kingdoms will fall. He makes wars to end that the earth may have peace. Be still as God is in control. God is our strength and refuge, Amidst the earth’s deluge. Though turbulent […]

Wesley on the Church
For many Methodists, John Wesley is a theologian of the Christian life par excellence. Wesley’s entire teaching and writing ministry may arguably be said to be focused on answering the question “What does it mean to be a Christian?” or, to put it differently, “What makes a ‘life’ Christian?” What is often missed is […]

Christmas and COVID-19
The world this Christmas is looking to be pretty much the same as it did last Christmas. At this writing, the cumulative number of COVID-19 cases reported across the globe is over 225 million, and over 5.1 million have succumbed to the disease. Even with the drive in most countries to inoculate their population from […]
