Stewardship is planning to get maximum returns for God’s purposes YOU may know people who are penny-wise, pound-foolish: people who are generally frugal but when a windfall hits, they go berserk and splurge and flush their money away. And of course, there are people who are the exact opposite. They are careful with large sums of […]

A FRIEND labelled me a rebellious Christian for being stubborn and determined to act according to my own wishes. “Hey, this will not be healthy for your Christian ministry! You must learn to submit to the will of God.” Without any hesitation, I gave a straightforward reply, “How can I do anything according to the will […]

ON THE Sunday following the tsunami that killed more than 150,000 people and affected millions, I was struck by the confusion reflected in the hymns, words and prayers we spoke and prayed in church that morning. The anthem was “All Things Bright and Beautiful”; the worship leader com-pared the tsunami with King Herod who slaughtered the […]

AT THE time of the American elections last year, there was a lot of talk about religion and politics. People grumbled that the evangelicals in the United States helped President George W. Bush win. “Keep religion and politics separate!” is almost like a mantra today, especially in Singapore. The whole idea is that religion is a […]

SUKKOT, or better known as the Feast of Tabernacles, comes on the fifth day of Yom Kippur (Day of Atonement). It is a Jewish festival that lasts for seven days (Leviticus 23:42). This special occasion commemorates the period of wilderness experiences after the exodus of Israel from Egypt. The Israelites were commanded to live in […]
